Elite Eight Preview/Predictions: Day 2

Yesterday the Elite Eight began, and it was pretty amazing. Loyola-Chicago had their way with Kansas State and Michigan fought their way to victory against Florida State. These games were awesome and they got us our first game for next Saturday. Today, Texas Tech, Villanova, Kansas, and Duke will see if they can punch their ticket to the Final Four. I don’t think anybody expected Texas Tech and Chris Beard would get this far, but they have and it’s been pretty crazy. Texas Tech would reach the Final Four for the first time in school history if they win today. Villanova and Jay Wright are trying to get back to the Final Four for the second time in three years. Kansas and Bill Self are trying to reach the Final Four for the first time in six years. Duke and Coach K would be going back to the Final Four for the second time in four years. We all know Villanova, Kansas, and Duke as great basketball schools historically. Will Texas Tech be able to handle their competition today? We will find out soon! Yesterday I was .500 with the two Elite Eight games. I’m back to make a few more predictions, let’s see what happens!!

Day Two:

(3) Texas Tech V. (1) Villanova – Villanova

Texas Tech defeated Purdue on Friday by 13 points. They didn’t seem to have a hard time, but Purdue was missing their best player. Villanova played an amazing game against West Virginia as well on Friday winning by 12. Neither team seemed to really have struggled. I think Villanova takes this game pretty easily though. Jalen Brunson and Donte DiVincenzo have been playing amazingly well in this tournament. They have been here before and they ready to get back to the National Championship. I think they matchup well with Keenan Evans and Zhaire Smith. Texas Tech has a great defense and they are really lengthy. Their half-court defense is amazing. I just don’t see Texas Tech being able to handle Villanova though. Jay Wright is an amazing coach and I think he will make the necessary adjustments to handle Texas Tech’s defense. The half court defense is Tech’s strong suit, so if Villanova can score in transition I think they win pretty easily.

Score: 70-62

(1) Kansas V. (2) Duke – Duke

This game between two veteran coaches will be an amazing one. Two blue-collar basketball schools, and it’s gonna be a fun one. Senior Guard Grayson Allen is trying to leave Duke with a bang and projected 2018 NBA lottery draft pick Freshman Forward Marvin Bagley III wants to send his fellow teammate out with one it seems. These guys have been playing at a high level and have elevated their teammates to that level with them. Senior Guard Devonté Graham and Senior Center Udoka Azubuike will try to match up with Grayson and Bagley respectively. Freshmen Forward Wendell Carter Jr. And Guard Gary Trent Jr. Will try to help lift Duke over the edge in this game. Redshirt Sophomore Guard Malik Newman and Junior Guard Legerald Vick will also create a bit of a problem for Duke. This will be a game of length and hustle, it will come down to who makes the least mistakes. These are two experienced and ready teams. In the end, I think coach K and the Duke Blue Devils prevail.

Score: 69-66

These are my predictions for today’s action! What do you guys think? Do you agree or think these games will go the other way? Tweet us your thoughts @TheUtilityMan17! We would love to hear from you guys!
