Top 2017-18 Winter Transfers

The transfer window can be just as exciting as any other deals in sports and this winter transfer season has not disappointed. Two weeks have passed since the 2017-18 winter transfer window closed and teams have already had their new players debut and see how they are fitting in their new squads. Today we’ll be taking a look at the more notable transfers that occurred this transfer window and how they’ve played so far for their new clubs.

It’s important to note that the following list is in no specific order.

Phillipe Coutinho- £108.00m

Phillipe Coutinho had been rumored to move to FC Barcelona for a while now, but the move finally came to fruition this transfer deadline. Couthinho was the most expensive transfer this window and his numbers don’t show that as in his three appearances he has only scored 1 goal. It’s only three games so it isn’t a big deal, but we should definitely keep an eye out for this one.

Alexis Sánchez- Swap Deal

Alexis Sanchez’s move to Manchester United was a bargain in a sense. The Chilean winger has already played in 4 games for the Red Devils and has already added one goal to his personal tally. Out of those 4 games with Sanchez, the team has won 2 and lost 2. Alexis has only played 4 games and will continue to improve as he gets more minutes on the pitch under Mourinho’s system and his new set of teammates.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang- £57.38m

Aubameyang is one of the most prolific goal scorers in European football and his price seems like a bargain as he came from Borussia Dortmund to Arsenal. In his first two games, Aubameyang has scored only once. It’s only a matter of time before he gets to his goal-scoring nature, but his new teammate Henrikh Mkhitaryan is already making some huge impressions on the club.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan- Swap Deal

Mkhitaryan was part of the swap deal that saw Alexis Sanchez leave Arsenal to join Manchester United. In his first 2 games, Mkhitaryan has racked up 3 assists in a playmaking role. As the season progresses, Aubameyang and his contributions should help Arsenal escape their mediocre sixth position on the table and compete for a Champions League spot.

Michy Batshuayi- Loan (£1.08m)

Batshuayi is a special exception to this list. Not only is he a loan instead of a transfer, he has performed exceptionally well. In two games, Batshuayi has scored 3 goals as he’s filled in the gap Aubameyang created when he left. Batshuayi left Chelsea to Dortmund in a loan deal as Chelsea couldn’t agree to outright sell him. Dortmund is currently finding a way to buy him outright as his performance has been tremendous.
